Connectivity-as-a-Service so Aurem Care can focus on what’s important
Aurem Care provides nursing, residential, dementia, respite and palliative care for older people in care homes across the country. With such sensitive, critical services to concentrate on, colleagues across Aurem need connectivity as a utility; a network they can trust to just work while they get on with their day to day.
“We rely on the internet for a number of very diverse reasons. From staff placing prescription orders and managing medical records, to resident entertainment and contact with friends and family. The need for reliable, secure connectivity has become an important foundation for their care."
Chris Mooney
Head of Estates

The challenge
Aurem Care were struggling with some legacy technology issues and a need for modernisation across three of their sites; Hailsham House, Lostock and Hillcrest.
Older connectivity: not fast, reliable or resilient enough to keep up with demand.
WiFi black spots: meaning a total lack of connection for residents and their families in some parts of the buildings.
No security: with legacy connectivity comes the issue of out of data protection; the business needed best of breed security solutions to protect sensitive data and eliminate vulnerabilities.
The solution
We provided Aurem with Managed WiFi and LAN, connectivity, and security solutions as part of our Connectivity-as-a-Service (CaaS) offer. CaaS was born of the idea that connectivity is a utility, and like electricity or water, should… just work. All the time. It’s exactly what Aurem Care needed to be able to focus 100% on the people in their care, without frustrations.
Priced as a simple monthly service charge, based on site size and number of users, CaaS requires no CapEx outlay, and promises an average 80-90% TCO reduction. It includes:
Connectivity: A hyperfast primary 1Gbps dedicated internet connection with resilient backup. Plus, if required, Cloud Connect to any single cloud provider.
Security: A managed Fortigate firewall, Multisite SD-WAN management, and Juniper AI Enterprise Managed LAN and WiFi.

The outcome
Colleagues and residents now enjoy an excellent roaming experience across the three connected sites. Connectivity is robust, resilient, far-reaching and secure.
“The good thing with Elevate is it’s a fixed price, so what you're quoted is what you're paying, it doesn't change on a monthly basis. For me as the estates manager, I need that cost surety across all my contracts. Having the ability to email one or two people with a question and somebody coming back with the right answer is definitely key.”
