Phase One of Cardiff’s full fibre broadband rollout is live!

Please note: since the original publication of this article, Telcom and Luminet have integrated and rebranded under the name Elevate.

We’re excited to announce the successful completion of the first phase of our project to deliver hyperfast full fibre broadband internet to the people of Cardiff. Construction on phase two of the project, which will add more residences and businesses to ClearFibre’s growing coverage area, has already begun.

Homes and businesses throughout the city are being upgraded with access to full fibre broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps.

Over 40% of Britons work from home either full or part time. High quality internet connectivity ensures you can work from anywhere, attend virtual meetings, and download or upload large files quickly. With speeds of up to 1Gbps broadband.

Fast internet is a necessity, not a luxury. That’s why its hyperfast broadband is priced competitively, and why there will be a social tariff available to support local residents in need with discounted rates and terms. Connectivity plans will be available at speeds of up to 250Mbps, 500Mbps, and 1Gbps.

Businesses of all sizes need fast, reliable internet to grow and thrive, whether you’re using cloud-based applications, video conferencing, or taking card payments.

Chris Baldock, Executive Chairman at Telcom, commented: “We are proud to be a part of this city-wide project, delivered by Cardiff Council and funded by the Welsh Government, that is currently underway to build a network for Cardiff that serves premises currently suffering from poor broadband service. We were selected by Cardiff Council to supply residents and businesses across the with hyperfast gigabit connectivity in under-served areas.

By bringing fast, reliable connections to parts of Cardiff that have historically suffered from slow, unstable internet, we’re helping bridge the gap between those being well served, and those being left behind.

We’re dedicated to improving quality internet access across the UK, helping communities come together and thrive online with fast, reliable, and future-proofed connectivity.

As part of our mission, we’re bringing five free Community Connections to community centres throughout the city in order to provide free, fast wireless internet to these vital public spaces that plan an important role in upholding and bringing the people of Cardiff together. Pentrebane Community Centre, Trelai Community Pavilion, Pontprennau Community Church, Old St. Mellons Community Council, and The Beacon Centre will be upgraded to full fibre network connectivity with the necessary speed and capacity to future-proof the network for generations to come.

Baldock adds: “We understand the importance of dependable high speed internet, which is why we are honoured to have been selected by Cardiff Council to complete both stages of this hyperfast broadband network buildout. By bringing 1Gbps internet to homes and businesses stuck on the wrong side of the digital divide, we look forward to helping Cardiff and its communities prosper and grow.”
