How we build our Hypercity fibre networks and install dedicated leased lines

Where, how and why we’ve invested so much in our Hypercities.

Watch this video for a clear, detailed explainer of our approach to building our own fibre network, and how we deliver dedicated leased lines in as little as 10 days across our six Hypercities.

That’s the fastest internet installation in the UK - an average of 89% faster than industry standard. Plus, because we also offer wireless rooftop backup in our Hypercities, we can provide a 100% uptime SLA.

So, if you’re a business in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or Liverpool we can guarantee you the fastest and most resilient internet you can get.

But big numbers and bold claims are one thing. We wanted to provide a more technical look at exactly how we do it.

In our fibre install explainer video, you’ll hear from Thom Seddon, our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and one of our infrastructure engineers too, as they talk you through a Hypercity fibre install, from data centre to customer site. We’re talking…

  • Data centres: We’ve got data centres in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool. The central hub of our fibre networks in each city, these are the heart of the operation and where your connection - a dedicated, physical fibre line - starts its journey.
  • Pulled and blown fibre: To allow the install of high capacity cables and complete routes without the need to install multiple nodes all along the way.
  • Chambers and nodes: We build our own chambers to house nodes across the cities, to ensure nobody else can access it and there won’t be any disruption.
  • Flexible network management: We can either provide a public IP, so you can then build your own firewalls and configure your own router. Or, we can provide a Managed Firewall, LAN and WiFi, and take care of the whole package for you.
  • Full stack support: From our in-house planner, to our own engineers to the dedicated Account Manager you’ll get when you work with us. Because we own, maintain and secure our own Hypercity networks, we’re accountable for every single bit of the kit.
  • Your ground-to-cloud technology partner: Whether you’re just looking to get online or need a fully managed network service, we keep your business well connected.

If you’d like to learn more, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to tell us a little more about your business, and we’ll create a tailored approach just for you.
