Our very own Awen Evans recently contributed a column to Business News Wales; talking all about the benefits our new full fibre network is already bringing to our latest Hypercity.
Built to deliver faster, more reliable digital connectivity, it provides the infrastructure organisations need to grow, innovate and plan with confidence - and it’s already reshaping how businesses across the city operate.
In an additional podcast, Awen discussed how businesses across the creative, fintech and professional services sectors are already strategically using the network.

Professional and financial services: dependable, ready-made connectivity without the expense or delays of bespoke solutions. Having fibre already in place reduces risk when moving or expanding, with the ability to scale capacity as needs evolve.
Our Hypercity network is a £7 million investment delivered in collaboration with Cardiff Council and the Welsh Government. Made up of around 170 kilometres of brand-new fibre installed across large parts of the city, it provides dedicated digital infrastructure for businesses.
As with any of our full fibre networks, we can offer symmetrical speeds and future-proof scalability - up to 10Gbps - finally giving businesses network infrastructure that’s built for the demands of today.
Crucially, this infrastructure is locally managed. That means greater accountability, faster fault resolution and closer operational relationships.
Crucially, the network isn’t reserved for large corporates. Affordable entry points allow startups and SMEs to access the same quality of network infrastructure as much larger organisations; and add capacity as their needs evolve.
This accessibility enables smaller firms to compete, innovate and grow without prohibitive upfront costs or technical limitations and ensures businesses of all sizes can fully participate in Cardiff’s digital economy.
The Hypercity vision was always about more than improving internet access and performance. It was about creating a foundation for sustainable growth, giving businesses the confidence to relocate, expand, invest and innovate without being constrained by outdated infrastructure.
And the early adoption that Awen’s already seeing across creative, fintech and professional services suggests this investment is already delivering meaningful impact, strengthening Cardiff’s position as a digitally connected business hub.
