Although the College already had a preexisting internet connection, a second internet connection was required to provide public and guest WiFi access. This secondary connection would also act as a carrier diverse ‘failover’ should anything happen to the primary link.
The Cardiff Hypercity Network from Elevate was chosen because it met the College’s connectivity requirements, while remaining highly cost-effective. The full-fibre network delivers hyperfast speeds of up to 10Gbps and provides affordable, gigabit connectivity.
Supported by investment from the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council, the network offers future-ready digital infrastructure that enhances connectivity, supports digital inclusion and enables long-term growth for organisations across Cardiff.
The College has replaced an aging and often difficult to access public WiFi with a service that is five times faster, and very easy to connect and to use. It’s dramatically improved public and customer WiFi experience across the College.
