The surge in connectivity demand, and the opportunity for the channel

As connectivity demands are anticipated to surge this year as a results of AI, 5G, and cloud growth; we look at ways that partners can tap into this trend to drive business growth.

We all know that the demands on modern business connectivity are huge. And they’re only going to increase. Hybrid models, cloud solutions, XaaS, not to mention the obvious huge growth of AI and the data volumes it brings with it.

Customers need robust, resilient connectivity more than they ever have done. And their connectivity needs will grow as 5G, IoT, AI and cloud solutions evolve. They’re increasingly aware of the unstoppable march of tech, the opportunities it holds for business, and that those who act now to embrace it will compete most successfully going forward. But do they know what that means for their network?

Acting proactively, collaboratively and consultatively now, will set you in good stead for becoming the go to partner going forward.

Here’s our top five tips for consulting and capitalising on ever-growing connectivity demands, to help you grow your business in the year ahead…

  1. Get sector specific: Target verticals and tailor messaging for industries where connectivity surges are likely to be most pronounced, such as media, marketing, finance, ecommerce and logistics, either from within your existing base or for new acquisition. Consider the sectors closest to you; are there industry-specific clusters or prolific local business types that you could make your targeting more efficient and valuable?

  1. Enhance your value add: Cross sell into other categories such as IT, cybersecurity and cloud storage, but lean strongly into connectivity as the foundational layer. In a world where both connectivity demand and IT complexity are increasing, customers are hungry for vendor consolidation. With a more comprehensive offer across the connectivity and application layers, you can offer them convenience and help them optimise resource, all while building resiliency into your own commercials.

  1. Tailor pricing: Bundle packages with built-in bandwidth upgrades, so you can proactively support customers with higher-speed plans to meet usage surges.

  1. Focus on failover: Consider your value proposition and positioning around redundancy and failover services. Increased usage, particularly at surge times, can put strain on their network. It’s worth pre-empting this with customers to put plans in place for uninterrupted service through diverse back up.

  1. Share your thoughts: Thought leadership and commentary around emerging technologies like 5G are a particular area of interest at the moment, and should give you an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and build up that reassurance and confidence in customers and prospects. This next-gen connectivity promises faster speeds and lower latency - especially if you have customers in more rural areas, but also as a resilient, diverse backup for others.
